Hi, I’m using NanoPi M4 $ uname -a Linux nanopim4 4.4.213-rk3399 #3 SMP Mon Oct 5 15:53:54 CEST 2020 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux and wondering if I can upgrade the linux kernel to 5.8.x without reinstalling other things. I tried armbian-config -> System -> Other All available options

As from Armbian point of view userspace upgrades (like Bionic to Focal or Buster to Bullseye) have never been officially supported by Armbian due to lack of resources for proper testing. You can try via official upstream ways but make sure to freeze your firmware packages via armbian-config. Remember no support from Armbian side if something goes wrong.

I have confirmed that armbian-config is neither set to freeze, nor is the 23.05 showing up as an available kernel. Of course I have done the standard scenario the device has upgrade and update commands. Also, strangely, on the 1 that was able to upgrade, I am no longer able to change kernel via armbian-config.

I’m running jammy and (I think) I’d like to upgrade to bullseye. But I can’t find a procedure for doing so. I’m guessing I can’t just dist-upgrade since jammy is Ubuntu and bullseye is Debian? I’ve googled for a procedure and searched this forum as well but I’m not finding a procedure. While searching this forum, I saw lots of topics where people had problems after

Distributions upgrades are unsupported by Armbian due to lack of testing (which is a result of lacking funds/manpower) but might be possible. However you are on your own. Just make sure to freeze your kernel packages beforehand because the upgrade would install the Debian kernel package which WILL lead into an unbootable system. Hey everyone, I am attempting to update my Orange Pi Zero from Armbian 22.0.2.1 to the latest 23.11 version however I am running into the issue that I am stuck on how to perform this update, I have tried it using the sudo apt dist-upgrade command and tried regular sudo apt update and upgrade comm

Hello, I have an Odroid N2+ on Armbian 23.02 Bullseye. I wish to upgrade to Bookworm.
