Maptool Vtt Download | Wildshape: Map Creation and VTT

I’ve been a developer for almost 30 years, but am kind of discouraged by all the commercial VTTs. Are there any open-source VTTs that are viable, or near-viable? I might be interested in working on that. All the commercial Foundry VTT modules leave kind of a bad taste. I initially picked Maptool over Roll20, because I wanted vision based lighting (VBL) and line of sight (LoS) without having to pay a monthly fee (Roll20 charges for these features as well as „premium“ access to many of their map assests). MapTool does all of that, provided you don’t get too fancy with it. (It can do damn near anything, including sing and dance, if you put enough work into it, but basic functions, like a map and tokens to push around, aren’t really any more complicated than any other VTT.) As u/NotYourNanny suggested, MapTool is a good and free, you can run multiple instances of the program on the same machine and I imagine if you have others joining in LAN it should work.
