[Question] Noob Question: How Do Wands Affect Spell Damage?
Di: Amelia
I’ve done some testing with fireball and a wand, on an int build, a build with no points invested, a build with some dexterity points, and builds with ranged damage thrown in. Most of the time it seems like wand skills just affect the physical autoattacks of wands (or any skills that can use them) and have no effect on spells you use. Spell damage doesn’t affect wands. I know this because I wand for 300ish, not 1500ish. This. If SD affected wands why would anyone ever do anything else? lol. I can see it now the end of days for all melee dps. Stack SD, then push your wand button and alt
Path of Exile is a free online-only action RPG under development by Grinding Gear Games in New Zealand. Wands, staffs and sceptres damage but their base have flat spell damage on them off of which you spell skills scale. Higher level items usually have more flat damage on them.

So if you spell does physical damage, yes you should up physical to get them. That said : spells don’t use your weapon damage, so the base base damage of a wand does nothing to spells. Only mods will up damage for spells. And there are no mods that increase physical damage for spells on weapons. It will affect attacks made with wands. Physical or elemental. Spells or burns will not be affected. If you crit with an attack and Anger fire damage procs a burn, only the initial hit damage is affected.
Hey guys noob question here, I googled this first and now I
One of the notes states the following: „Increases and Reductions to Spell Damage also apply to Attacks while wielding a Wand“. By increases and reduces obviously the „%increased spell damage“ would work for attacks but how about „adds x to x cold/fire/lightning damage to spells“? if the stat says wand damage, its only for wand attacks not spells, same as for any damage added on a wand that doesn’t say „to spells“. so a wand with „adds 10 fire damage“ will only help if you’re using a wand attack skill.
So excuse the noob question; inexperienced player. Let me set the stage. Level 28 Blood Elf Mage. Fire is what im specing into (I know the meta is Ice for PvP, but fire is cooler to me. No pun intended.) I’ve started finding gear that gives extra Fire Spell Damage and it makes me want to wear and equip every piece I can. My question is, are they worth it? Are the Inferno Robes
However, wand damage doesn’t affect spells, as they primarily gain damage from their skill gem. Spells don’t use your weapon damage, so the base base damage of a wand does nothing to spells. Only mods will up damage for spells. Wands do deal relatively low physical damage, but their base Attack Speed and Crit Chance are.
So, first off, I know Shadow Spell Damage is pretty much your highest priority as Warlock strictly from a theoretical perspective. I guess my question is how much is and utility +Spell Damage better compared to flat Intellect and Stamina? Path of Exile is a free online-only action RPG under development by Grinding Gear Games in New Zealand.
Both „increased physical damage“ and „increased spell damage“ work, but not things like „increased physical damage with weapons“, „increased damage with attacks“, or „increased melee damage“ and such. Wand damage is specific to attacks made with a wand (whether attack skills or just basic auto attacks). Spells are not attacks. Wands are your primary tool of combat and utility in Noita. They take up the first four spots of your inventory bar, and can have many different uses and powers depending on the Spells that are in them. While exploring through the caves in Noita, you can come across new wands on pedestals spread throughout the map, akin to those which can hold potions. Unclaimed wands create a

Could someone please explain a few questions about wand damage to me? So I’m maining a shadow priest in classic and I was wondering what priority I should be placing on trying to use a wand that does shadow damage. Like does That being said essence drain has the effect „spell damage modifiers also affects this skills damage over time effects“ so it also effects essence drain dots. Contagion has the same modifier and its safe to assume blight will have it aswell.
Noob question: does %increased totem damage affect "spell
I’m totally confused about the benefit of using a staff over a wand+focus for my lightning sorceress. The combined %spell damage and other beneficial effects of my current LOW ilvl wand/focus damage doesn t affect spells from early act 1 have been WAY better than any staff I’ve found up to mid way act 2 so far. why are the %spell damage range rolls on higher ilvl staves I’m finding so much lower
If you have no other chance to do double damage it works like that yeah. Remember though that shocks from double damage will be higher so if you can shock it’ll likely be a bit better than that (ignites/bleeds/poison are unaffected by double damage though!) You are not your minions, so any mod that affect you don’t affect automatically minions. Spell damage in wand, except %minion damage, don’t affect minions AFAIK. Does Spellpower effect wands? I’m asking because I saw on the damage stat on the character pane, it calls out a bonus equal to my spellpower, but it didn’t change the DPS stat at all; and it didn’t seem to in actual gameplay. However most spellpower items say „spells and effects “ So not sure what effects are if not wands.
23 votes, 37 comments. truespell damage affects all skills that has the spell tag. elemental damage affects all skills that has the elemental tag. elemental damage also affects your skill’s portion of damage that is either fire/frost/lightning damage even if it isnt part of the skills base kit. usually have more It will however not double dip ever as i understand it regardless of conversion shenaigans. 1. Where spell skills take crit chance from? They have own or from weapon? 2. Do magic weapon flat damage numbers goes to spell skill? Another words, what weapon stats affects spell skils? thank you!
Can’t they be affected by specific spell damage? Like I know some spriests have said shadow wands are best since they have a debuff that increases shadow damage taken. You can either have an attack wand, which would scale either flat physical or elemental damage, probably with some attack speed and critical mods, or you could have a spell wand, which would scale spell damage, possibly with some flat damage
Wands don’t boost spell damage Unless it says so in the tooltip (____ wand of ___ wrath). Different wands do different types of damage though, so some mobs might be immune to one wand but not immune to another.
Do wands ever become useful?
Does shadow form increase my wands damage if it’s a wand that does shadow damage? I feel like if I speced into the +25% wand damage & got and additional +15% shadow damage my wand would be very useful at lvl 40 till at-least 45ish? akin to those which I was saying that the wand mimics the spell exactly, so you would have to touch someone with wand, since CMW is a touch spell. Yes this is a noob question but i would very much appreciate if someone could answer it for me.
I have a Windweaver Staff equipped which “Increases damage done by Arcane spells and effects by up to 14.” Unfortunately it has no effect on my actual DPS with arcane wands. ( I tested my Greater Magic Wand with and without the Windweaver Staff and had the exact same wand damage range.) Is this a bug?
Not sure which damage applies to the skill, do these all work: local wand damage local wand crit local elemental damage local physical damage damage to spells Thanks in advance for any help. For shadow spells, +spell damage and +shadow damage do the same thing. But since +spell damage applies to any spell, not just shadow, you generally get less of it for an equivalent item.
In short, the spell creates a minion which then attacks things. Modifiers to spells affect the casting of the minion (eg unleash, spell echo, cast speed), but do not modify the minions themselves. One type of minion does use weapons, called animate weapon, by casting the skill on
Hey guys noob question here, I googled this first and now I’m even more confused. I have a wand that gives 21% increased spell damage, 50% increased burning damage, 18% chance to ignite and 10 chance to trigger summon raging spirit on kill. Do these affect all my spells or just the spells Question Trying to figure out how these stats work. My frost mage has a chest piece that has +19 frost spell damage. Does that increase the damage of each frost spell by 19? Have an orb that increases damage and healing and magic effects by 13. Does this add 13 damage to each spell? Or is that too simplistic. But to answer your usage question, yes, you put the wand on a shortcut bar and click on it to switch from the Eternal Wand of Finger of Fire to the Fireball wand. You have to have the wand equipped in your main hand to cast the spell it contains. You equip something by either opening your Inventory and dragging it to your main hand, or by putting it on a shortcut bar and
